About Kathy Ekdahl

Kathy has devoted her entire career – nearing 28 years – to health and fitness. After spending 10 years in the medical field performing patient care in a clinical setting, she moved into the physical fitness domain and developed her expertise in teaching group fitness classes for all ages and fitness levels.

For 10 years, Kathy owned and operated The Aerobics Stop, a women-only health club in Marlborough, MA. where she developed programs for special needs populations such as seniors, the obese, and women and adolescent girls facing body image and self-esteem issues. In 2001, Kathy sold her health club to devote the rest of her fitness career to working 1 on 1 with her clients as a personal trainer.

Kathy is a certified personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Kathy is also a yoga instructor and a certified coach with the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA). She coached varsity field hockey and lacrosse at Hudson High School, Hudson, MA. from 2001 until 2013. As the “first ever” girls lacrosse coach at HHS, Kathy was integral in the development of the girls lacrosse program.  She currently is an official for high school field hockey in central Massachusetts.

A master-class presenter and lecturer to fitness professionals and exercise enthusiasts, Kathy has taught numerous workshops and fitness training certification classes. She is also the author of numerous articles and ebooks, addressing topics such as “Strength Training for Women,” “The Role of Exercise in Stress Reduction,”  “Workplace Wellness and Postural Health”, “Nordic Walking”, and her current passion, golf fitness.

Kathy is an avid golfer and is an expert in golf fitness. She is certified by the Titleist Performance Institute since 2007, and was employed by The International Golf Club, Bolton, MA, as a staff personal trainer from 2007-2011. Kathy is the author of “Getting Golf Ready- A Woman’s Guide to Golf Fitness” and “Yoga for Golf “, both available through www.golfgurls.com. She has been featured as a golf fitness expert in IDEA magazine, a trade journal for the fitness industry, and offers golf fitness workshops to golf clubs throughout Massachusetts.

Kathy hosts a television show called “Kathy’s Fitness Forum” for Hudson Cable, CTV-8 and writes for her local newspapers as the fitness expert. She is currently working on several other writing projects, including a book on “life balance” and how to incorporate fitness into a busy life.
